01 Frequently asked
SOLA launches in Europe in autumn 2026, starting in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with broader EU availability online at sola-sun.com from launch day. We're finalising supply chain and regulatory work now. Join the waitlist to be notified first.
Each capsule is a single dose of our waterless SPF formula in a biodegradable shell. Twist it open and apply like any sunscreen. One capsule covers the face and neck. The formula absorbs quickly to an invisible finish with a faint shimmer, and the shell breaks down in marine environments.
SOLA uses next-generation organic UV filters for broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. It is not a mineral sunscreen. The minerals you see in the finish are there for shimmer, not for protection. Full ingredient information is on the packaging at launch.
There's no water in the formula. That chemistry keeps the formula stable inside the biodegradable shell and took years to get right. It also means better stability and a longer shelf life than most water-based sunscreens.
Yes, and both launch together. SPF 30 covers daily protection for most skin and most days. SPF 50 is the higher-protection option for long exposure, time in water, or sensitive skin. The waterless, ocean-safe base is the same in both. Only the filter concentration changes.
Two. A 12-count and a 40-count. The 12-count suits travel or a first try. The 40-count is the better-value option for regular use through the season.
Yes. The formula leaves out oxybenzone and octinoxate, the filters linked to coral damage. The organic filters we do use are reef-friendly, and the capsule shell breaks down without harming marine life. SOLA is formulated with ocean and coral health in mind.
The shell breaks down in roughly 90 days in marine environments, against the decades a plastic bottle takes. The waterless formula inside breaks down too, without leaving toxic residue.
Each capsule holds 0.7g of waterless SPF formula, enough for the face and neck in one use. One capsule, one application. No measuring, no guessing how much to apply.
It dries to an invisible finish with a faint shimmer from silica-based light-diffusing particles, which give a luminous look on skin. There's no chalky white cast, so it works across skin tones.
It's formulated with sensitive skin in mind. The waterless base leaves out common irritants such as water, preservatives, and alcohol, and the filters are non-comedogenic and well tolerated. If you have a known allergy to a specific filter, check the full ingredient list. A patch test is always sensible for reactive skin.
Keep them cool and dry, out of direct sun and heat. Aim for 15 to 25°C and avoid storing above 30°C, since heat can affect stability. The shell is durable enough to protect the contents through normal storage and travel.
Yes to both. No animal-derived ingredients, and SOLA does not test on animals.
SOLA is produced to Good Manufacturing Practice standards and formulated to comply with EU Cosmetics Regulation No. 1223/2009. Every shortlisted manufacturer is ISO 22716-certified. Manufacturing details are confirmed ahead of launch, and every capsule is held to the same standard wherever it's produced.
SOLA's intellectual property is the waterless SPF formula that works inside the capsule. The biodegradable shell is sourced from a specialist supplier. The hard part, and SOLA's contribution, was creating a formula that stays stable and effective in a waterless, capsule-based delivery system, which took several rounds of formulation to perfect.
